3D Studio Max Rendering of Pura Tanjung Sabtu

Lets go back to the time when wood was cheap. What you're looking at here is the rendition of an antique collection of Terengganu's Malay timber houses, owned by us, in digital 3D form. But the real thing is a private property of Tengku Ismail bin Tengku Su. A second cousin to the present H.R.H. the Sultan of Terengganu. The place is called Pura Tanjung Sabtu.
A big thanks to Tengku for welcoming our visit last year and that allowed us to properly measure the whole complex as required for this 3D version to be erected. Our visit to Tengku's place was recorded here. I figured it would've been a laborious task for Tengku to restore this whole place to its present shape, but what was also laborious is that for us to recreate bit by bit before achieving this fully digitized version in all its glory.

But there's been some compromise of course. The real Pura Tanjung Sabtu has been built and renovated to make it suitable to live in, in the environment of the present time. For example, Tengku has brick walled most of the sections under the house to accommodate his Songket weaving apparatus. The upper section, which is the original house itself has been made to accommodate modern sedate living. Other house blocks are converted to tourist lodging, a.k.a guesthouses with some fees for a night stay. For our purpose, we had to ditch all the creature comforts so that it remains authentic to the original style of old Terengganu houses.

There it is, this masterpiece is preserved for as long as there are binary numbers and human and machine to decipher it. Thanks again to Tengku Ismail for making this possible.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the monitor screen

We thought of opening the windows before pressing the render button, but there was a foreign tourist in there just finished her morning bath

This place is equipped with traditional burglar alarm. The wooden floor thumps and creaks upon the slightest pressure from footsteps

The whole complex from bird's eye view, if the bird could care

3Ds Max made timber planks cutting a breeze

I didn't recall there was this much pillars. But structurally, the roof needs them
